I've been recommending the Audio Technica 2100 USB (atr2100usb) microphone because it operates as a USB microphone (great for the solo podcaster), and also as an XLR microphone. I always thought it was an either or situation. The other night I was on skype so I pugged the microphone in via usb and connected to Skype. Then the person I was speaking with also wanted me to record just my side of the conversation. I plugged the XLR cable into the micropone. That went into my mixer, and then into my Roland R-05 portable recorder.
The cool thing is both ways can operate at the same time. This enabled me to be on skype and communicate with the person interviewing me, and at the same time send the audio of “just me” to the recorder.
