I've been a big fan of the Builder Theme from iThemes. I noticed that my one year of support is up on that theme. I recently came across the Headway Theme. Holy Sssshmokes…
I loved builder as it made it super easy to create my own layouts (which made it easy to have the inside of a membership site look different from the outside). Headway Themes does all of that and there is a lifetime of free upgrades. Watch this video about Headway as this dude creates a pretty amazing website in 10 minutes. I get the feeling this is just the beginning with this theme.
In looking into some of the details of the theme it does remind me a little of Thesis where it has its own world of terminology (leafs vs widgets). From what I've seen, it is very flexible. You can do just about whatever you want it to do without adding another 12 plugins to rotate images, hide widgets, etc. I have never been a big fan of diving into code, and this looks like I will never have to.
Headway starts at $87 for the personal version (for use on two sites), or the Developer version goes for $164 and the encourage you to build clients site with it. Very cool. For more information go to headwaythemes.com
Very cool Dave. It seems like a hybrid between WordPress and Squarespace. Great for a designer that doesn’t want to learn css.
David, thanks for the review of Headway Themes. If you or your readers have any questions, please let us know. Always glad to discuss and answer questions about Headway Themes. Thanks again.
Dave, I’ve been using Headway for what seems like a lifetime – in fact, one of my earlier reviews of the theme (though I loathe to use that term; it sounds so rigid. Yet Headway is much more than a framework in the user interface, features, etc) appears here:

It is as you say, a golden egg among WordPress themes. I built my site on it – http://www.thepodcastguy.com – and I’m no designer at all.
I believe that a big revamp impending that will make Headway even more incredible – and easier to use, if that’s possible.
Clay, Grant, AJ, Chris and the team have done monumental things in making WordPress yet more accessible. Kudos, all, and great work Dave for bringing Headway to the world’s attention.
